Mr Tappin trained at St Mary's Medical School, London. He later specialised in Ophthalmology, and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
Following a Senior Registrar position at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, Mr Tappin became a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Royal Surrey Hospital, Guildford, and St Peters Hospital in Chertsey.
Mr Tappin undertook specialist training in corneal, laser and refractive surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital and The Charles Gairdner Eye Institute in Perth, Australia.

Mr Tappin is a qualified, experienced, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon with NHS practices at The Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford and St Peters Hospital in Chertsey. Additionally Mr Tappin consults and operates from the Woking Nuffield Hospital and the Runneymede Hospital in Chertsey. Mr Tappin is a member of The Royal College of Ophthalmologists ( RCOphth) and the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons ( ESCRS).
